The highest point in Missouri, with a rugged trail to Mina Sauk Falls — the state's tallest waterfall — and sweeping views across the St. Francois Mountains.
Taum Sauk Mountain State Park is home to Missouri's highest point — 1,772 feet above sea level — and some of the most rugged terrain in the state.
The highlight is the Mina Sauk Falls Trail, a roughly three-mile loop that leads to Missouri's tallest waterfall (a seasonal, 132-foot cascade) and connects to the Ozark Trail. The summit is an easy walk from the parking area, marked by a granite plaque, and the park offers outstanding views across the St. Francois Mountains.
This is the wildest and quietest of the valley's big three parks. Bring sturdy shoes and water — the trail is rocky and remote, and the falls flow best after rain.
